Air Miami

About

Air Miami emerged briefly in the mid '90s as a new project of Teenbeat record label founder Mark Robinson and Bridget Cross after indie favorites Unrest broke up. The debut record Me, Me, Me continued stripping away the layers of pop that Unrest had begun before them. Their waif-like vocals, drum machine backbeats, and tongue-in-cheek lyrics in songs like "World Cup Fever" showed a band intent on being pop music artisans ready to embrace New Wave and let go of the unpolished guitar drones and jangling pop Unrest were capable of. Despite two additional singles, Air Miami ended up being merely a single album experiment.
