Well over a decade past its inception, the Cali-fried G-Funk of Daz Dillenger's Dogg Pound years seems like a distant memory, so it's no surprise that "On Some Real Sh*t" traffics in the hypnotic ATL pop-hop that has become the trademark of Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label. Similarly, Daz has traded gangsta tales for an exposition about his jewelry, the "trees in his jar" and his (understandably) coveted $100,000 whip. The flute that runs through the track is a nice touch, adding a lilting levity to Daz's liquor-swilling, money-hoarding braggadocio and guest rapper Rick Ross' gravely Magic City tough talk.
