Testimony is another reflective, sincere and mature album from India.Arie. Even when she gets down, as on the spry "Private Party," she only invites "my angels and my guitar" to "learn how to love me and celebrate the woman I've become." Elsewhere, she covers Don Henley ("The Heart of the Matter"), duets with Senegalese hook-slinger Akon ("I Am Not My Hair") and decries "too much hypocrisy in this old Southern town" on the touching "India'Song." In the end, Testimony is mildly multicultural green tea R&B for folks with a fetish for emo acoustic soul music.
