Since releasing the EP that landed them a deal with Flicker, KITW have slipped down the hard rock slope from alternative rock to progressive emo to good old fashioned screamo on this bonus-clad rerelease of their sophomore LP. Melody is indeed mostly an apparition on Dead Letters Edition, making appearances in "Breaking the Legs of the Sheep" and "Getting Over You," one of two new tracks along with opener, "Fiction." The Tears for Fears cover "Head Over Heels " deserves mention, but its edgy delivery doesn't mesh well with the memory of its new wave roots.
