If it weren't for the title track (one of the most majestic visions of damnation to ever be turned into pop), there would be little talk of Hotel California being the Eagles' best album. Of course, it boasts several more awesome tunes, like the funky numbers "Life in the Fast Lane" and "Victim of Love," both of which feature triple-guitar attacks married to lyrics soaked in paranoia. But there's also one too many lite rockers. By the time you hit the "Pretty Maids All in a Row"/ "Try and Love Again"/ "The Last Resort" stretch, you might be thinking c'mon boys, let's pick up the pace.
