Nothing Can Hurt Me (Soundtrack)

Nothing Can Hurt Me by Big Star
Released: Jun 2013
Nothing Can Hurt Me is the soundtrack to the critically lauded documentary on one of rock's greatest cult bands: Big Star. As a stand-alone listening experience, it's a well-curated selection of alternate mixes, studio banter and demos that even hardcore fans would be wise to explore. Of particular note are the rough mixes of Third/Sister Lovers cuts "Kanga Roo" and "Holocaust"; on these, Alex Chilton's hollowed-out voice takes center stage to haunting effect. Another stunner is the "movie mix" of "In the Street," which possesses more swing than the version found on debut album #1 Record.
