What is it about Woodstock that yields magical folk rock albums? In 1971 Karen Dalton recorded her second and last LP in the same town that birthed such epics as the Band's Music From Big Pink and The Basement Tapes, as well as Devendra Banhart's Cripple Crow. Dalton's In My Own Time is an electric departure from her 1969 autumnal acoustic debut. She still stuck to covers, but her bruised and breaking voice breathed new life into songs by Richard Manuel, George Jones, and Paul Butterfield, among others.
