Live At The Fillmore by Dredg
Released: Nov 2006
Label: Interscope
As you can hear from the chants and catcalls on this album, the Bay Area's Dredg has a ravenous cult following. But if you're among the alt-metal massive and you haven't heard this group, Live at the Fillmore is a perfect introduction. Like the bastard child of Muse and Tool, Dredg plays gargantuan, atmospheric progressive rock full of earnestly sung sci-fi lyrics and even the odd violin or horn. Combining the best cuts from their catalogue, this hour-plus set is a blast, and as the band has a penchant for creating concept records, its grab-bag of songs is something of a rarity.
