Those looking for Islamic Sufi music or any instrumental jams implementing the kamenchech or the 78-stringed santur are in for disappointment. Sure, he changed his name to Yusef Islam in 1977, trading his music for religious devotion, but three decades later the man still sings like Cat Stevens. Songs like "In the End" and the life-affirming serenade of "Heaven/Where True Love Goes" sound like resurrected outtakes from 1970's Tea For The Tillerman (as opposed to all those Muslim-influenced songs he's put out in between). Maybe Natalie Merchant will start covering "Peace Train" again.
