Released: Mar 2007
Aqualung's Matt Hanes, flying high from the success of his debut, thankfully still sounds glum on this second try. Yet this release adds a few intriguing twists to his despair, like the charging "Something to Believe In" and the distorted and distant-sounding "Broken Bones." Consider the proggish electronic blurps and bleeps that wind through "Black Hole" and bits of Memory Man could even provide the waiting room muzak for those impatient for the next Radiohead release. Fans will also find sweet (and unsullied) pop comfort in the single "Pressure Suit" and the '70s soft rock of "Rolls So Deep"-- a style that slides in perfectly with his disconsolate Brit sincerity.
