Just as the Shrek movies put playful, but subversive, humor into kid's cartoons, the soundtrack CDs also find common ground between families, hipsters and green ogres. This installment gives you two fine Eels originals, a stoner rock outing from Wolfmother (who also snagged a spot on the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack), the Ramones' "Do You Remember Rock'n'Roll Radio?," and the Harry Chapin weeper "Cat's In the Cradle." Listening to Eddie Murphy and Antonio Bandaras duet on an unstoppable Sly Stone classic takes some of the pain away from the fact that Fergie does a note-for-note cover of Heart's "Barracuda." More kitties and donkeys and less Fergies!
