Here, My Dear (Bonus Tracks)
Marvin Gaye
Released:
Dec 1978
Label:
Hip-O Select / Motown
Now considered a classic, Here, My Dear was a bomb in its day. The concept album came about when a divorce court told Marvin Gaye that all the proceeds from his next album would go to his ex-wife. Gaye's painfully autobiographical masterwork exquisitely charts the course of a failed marriage, from "I Met a Little Girl" to "Anger," "...When Did I Stop Loving You" back to "Falling in Love Again" with somebody else. This deluxe edition contains more than a disc's worth of bonus material. Since Marvin used the studio like an instrument, the different takes are worth investigating.
