Hammering piano chords and an arching pop hook make "Nine in the Afternoon," the lead single from Panic at the Disco's sophomore LP, nearly rise to the delirious highs of "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." The lolling narrative doesn't resound with stories of betrayal that made "Sins" such a rush, but it's still plenty dramatic, with sweeping strings and scads of Brendon Urie's vocal inflection. The addition of the multi-movement "Build God, Then We'll Talk," executed flawlessly in Denver, flaunts their ability as a super-tight live band.
