Move It On Over
Released: Jan 1978
Label: New Rounder
Thorogood's deep reverence for Hound Dog Taylor was never more evident than on the first two songs on this, his second record. His takes on Hank Williams' "Move It On Over" and Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love?" chug and shudder with perfectly distorted slide guitar that is more an homage to the one-of-a-kind Chicago blues interpreter's careening play than a rip-off. Made up entirely of covers, Move It On Over well illustrates Thorogood's talents (not the least of which is song selection) before major labels kind of ruined him.
