Booker's health and mental state had reportedly seen better days when this final proper album was recorded in four hours in 1982, and the legendary pianist died a year later. Often called uneven, Classified features the virtuoso still delivering his gifts with a feverish power. His take on Roger Miller's "King of the Road" and "Professor Longhair Medley" are major highlights; "Swedish Rhapsody" finds him turning classical piano inside out, while the soul-funk title cut is one of his self-penned gems. Booker may have been at the end of the line here, but he doesn't play like it.
