In 1967, the Jefferson Airplane became summer-of-love pop stars. But by the following year the band had ditched all that for grimy, atonal acid-rock. Bless Its Pointed Little Head was the first live recording of the Airplane's career, and it shows just how radical a change the group underwent in those 12 short months. The folk-rock jangle of Surrealistic Pillow has been "lysergically" warped into heavy, extended workouts full of nervously funky breakdowns.
