The Piccadilly Story
Various Artists
Released:
Oct 1994
Label:
Sanctuary Records Fontana
Pye Records offshoot Piccadilly specialized in the soul and beat-oriented pop side of things in the early 1960s. (They weren't above releasing Cockney novelty records, either.) There are plenty of excellent pre-rock 'n' roll tracks on here, from the soul-inspired sound of Timebox's "I'll Always Love You" to Geno Washington's storming take on "Que Sera Sera."
