This Is Sinatra! Volume Two
Frank Sinatra
Released:
Jan 1957
Label:
Capitol Records
Sinatra's initial batch of singles for Capitol were fantastic because he had to prove that he was still an important artist. Later, though, the singer often let others choose what he would record as singles because he knew he needed to complete artistic control over his albums. We're still om pretty safe ground here. Sinatra and Nelson Riddle revisit "Time After Time," "Put Your Dreams Away" and "I Believe" from Frankie's bow-tied balladeer days, while the hedonistic hipster gets to swing through "So Long, My Love." "How Little We Know" is probably the best-written new tune, even though "Hey! Jealous Lover" -- a song Sinatra hated and would belittle for the rest of his days -- went to No. 1 on the charts.
