Unfortunately, Quorthon's death from a heart attack in 2004 made this Bathory's final record. Originally it was meant to be part two in an intended four-album cycle. Where Nordland I was lyrically concerned with Norse mythology, Nordland II is about Viking culture. That means that although this music remains absolutely perfect for razing villages, instead of singing about Yggdrasill, Quorthon is singing about getting his hair braided, bathing in a fjord, runes and killing. Best song: "Vinland."
