A lot of underground tastemakers seem to think the pairing of Sparklehorse and Fennesz is strange and odd and weird. But it's really not. Though the musicians specialize in rootsy indie-pop and avant-garde laptop weirdness, respectively, both share a love for well-textured droning goop and moody soundscapes. A good portion of this collaboration sounds not unlike Califone (at its most tweaked, of course). The second track, "Goodnight Sweetheart," is a stunning stretch of modern psychedelia.
