Chinese Democracy asks the question: Can a record sound dated the day it's released? First off, it's not a bad album. Axl's scratchy howl is still potent, as is his knack for proggy metal anthems. If you dig "November Rain" and "Estranged," then you'll want to hear "Street of Dreams." But here's the bigger issue: Rose just spent too many years sitting on this thing. Most of the album is him filtering the GnR sound through nu-metal and industrial rock, but that stuff hasn't been hip since 2001.
