by Julian Cope
Released: Oct 1992
Label: Island Mercury
Julian Cope made an artistic and commercial comeback with 1991's Peggy Suicide and then returned to eccentric cult figure status with Jehovakill. The title of this one might clue you into the fact that Cope had become a true scholar of pre-Christian ruins and had come to believe that ancient religions were better than the ones we have today. Whatever. These just seem like neat songs, full of the old Cope 1960s style pop hooks but broaded with wierdo English folk, kraut-rock and Stooges style noise.
