On the first three cuts, Davis sits in with the Lighthouse All-Stars, then featuring Bud Shank (alto), Bob Cooper (tenor) and Max Roach (drums). Then Roach gets a solo drum spotlight before Miles disciple Chet Baker (with a thin tone and low confidence) joins the ever-reliable pianist Russ Freeman at the end. "Round Midnight" wasn't widely known at the time they cut it.
