It's hard to argue that Kinky are doing anything deep on their third album. The band seems almost slavishly determined to steer clear of complexity: they remind you of that guy at the party who just wants to dance, man, so quit your yakking. The thing is, that guy is indispensable to any party, and Kinky, drilling deep into the flesh of fluffy dance music, sound like Devo with a debutante makeover: equal parts robot and bubblegum. Whether they're casually throwing an accordion riff atop Thomas Dolby-era synthesizers or imitating the Scissor Sisters on "Monday Killer," these guys know how to get what they want.
