The title of Motion City Soundtrack's fourth album is rather apt. These Minnesota boys' sound is sometimes a wee bit old-fashioned, like the early days of emo mixed with post-Dookie pop-punk, as opposed to the more frenetically enunciated and emoted versions the kids are into these days. And they are covering some common ground: Like on their second album, Blink-182's Mark Hoppus handled production duties. But in other ways, everything is new. After all, this is the band's major label debut, and they've obviously spit-shined their best crunchy riffs and sensitive witticisms.
