Bun B's third album, Trill O.G., is the work of a Southern ambassador who freely journeys to every corner of the rap universe. That doesn't mean every track on this hour-long opus works. Drake's flat croon makes for the strangely discomfiting "Put It Down" and "It's Been a Pleasure," and T-Pain strains to turn "Trillionaire" into a club smasher. And while Bun B's authoritative baritone remains a marvel, his lyrics don't always measure up. Trill O.G. shines, however, when he skips the pop-rap gimmicks and lays down street law on "I Git Down For Mine" and the DJ Premier-produced "Let Em Know."
