This limited edition version of Soundgarden's first peep since 1997 goes far beyond the "collection" status of its single disc counterpart, featuring nearly an entire album's worth of early material and live cuts. Folks only familiar with the hits may be surprised to learn Soundgarden came on heavier (and weirder) than their grunge peers -- check the psyche-metal of "Hands All Over." Still, the hits rule. An MTV Live 'N' Loud version of "Blow Up the Outside World" is somehow eerier and more desperate than the original, and "Fell On Black Days" always, always, always sounds awesome.
