by Neil Diamond
Released: Nov 2010
For Dreams the great sequined one decided to set down his pen and show off his skills as an interpreter. It's an intriguing move, considering he's often touted as one of pop music's preeminent songwriters. Excluding the AM classic "I'm a Believer," which Diamond wrote in the mid-'60s, this record consists of tracks composed by others, among them Leonard Cohen, Randy Newman, Nilsson and Lennon/McCartney. With sparse arrangements (mainly piano, guitar and light strings), Diamond's voice takes center stage. There's nothing too revelatory here, just some music geared towards longtime fans.
