The third album from London's Lukid rather bizarrely reprises three songs from his previous album, Foma -- and puts two of them first, at that. Nevertheless, Chord feels different from start to finish, with less emphasis on opalescent hip-hop beats and more on vibrant synthesizer textures and stumbling cadences cribbed from house and dubstep. "Lego" is a slow-motion deep-house dirge, and "Stripes" an apocalyptic collision of 8-bit disco and hardcore "hoover" bass. But the stoned vibe of his previous work prevails -- perhaps explaining how more than a quarter of the album is a rerun.
