All Day Music kicks off with its title track, a stone-cold classic tribute to Southern California summers. But the rest of the album belies its title. "That's What Love Will Do" concerns a love affair gone sour, but its refrain could symbolize' 70s stagflation and the end of the '60s dream, a suggestion the group makes plain on "Get Down." The pessimism reaches a peak on the haunting Latin funk of "Slippin' Into Darkness." With such heavy vibes clouding All Day Music, the buoyant jam sessions on "Nappy Head" and "Baby Brother" come as welcome relief.
