Duffy
Released:
Dec 2010

Mercury Records
Duffy didn't just come to fame for being the Amy Winehouse you can bring home to meet your parents. Her debut, Rockferry, helmed by Suede's Bernard Butler, was a gratifying commercial smash that won critical acclaim. This time out, Duffy teams with soft rocker Albert Hammond, retaining her Dusty-Springfield-gets-a-sinus-infection sound while losing the emotional pull of her debut. Still, everything sounds right, with Duffy and Hammond spinning the '60s AM dial and going from upbeat girl group to sophisticated torch song without dropping a beat.
