ReAniMate is more than a collection of covers. It's a glimpse into the diverse influences that have helped shape Halestorm's fusion of vintage grunge, pop metal and classic rock. The EP opens with Lzzy Hale absolutely owning Skid Row's "Slave to the Grind." The group then goes left-field, turning Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" into a groovy, sexy slice of funk rock. After revisiting hits from Temple of the Dog, Guns N' Roses and Heart, respectively, Halestorm closes with a rendering of The Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)." Though it doesn't totally work, it sure is ambitious and gutsy.
