Technically speaking, The Duke & The King is the third full-length in the band's discography, but really, it's a compilation of the best tracks from the two that came before, which obviously definitely makes it the group's strongest release to date. In contrast with The Felice Brothers, singer Simone Felice's previous outfit, this group is softer, as well as dreamier and more introspective. They also flirt with blue-eyed soul quite a lot, the finest examples of which are "Hudson River" and "Have You Seen It?" That latter tune also exudes a strong CSN&Y vibe.
