Los Angeles' Dim Mak label is best known for its adolescent, aggressive take on electro, but here, label head Steve Aoki branches out into post-rock pastures -- more contemplative, more complex, and maybe a little more grown-up. Despite the title, this isn't textbook '80s post-punk, but contemporary acts plying boisterous dance punk (The Gossip), head-scratching mathcore (Battles) and middling Tortoise impersonations (From Monument To Masses). It's an unusual look for Dim Mak, but a useful reminder that there's life beyond bangers.
