For his first album post-Crazy Heart, The Dude was wise to enlist ace producer T-Bone Burnett. Even if his tunes stink, the record will sound good, at least. Then again, a lot of credit has to go to Bridges. He isn't a major talent, yet he understands his limits as an Americana crooner and composer. In other words, he keeps things simple. The opener, "What a Little Bit of Love Can Do," is a fine slice of rockabilly, one that betrays his love for vintage Everly Brothers. The only problem is the dominant number of slow-as-molasses ballads; a couple more perky rockers would've been nice.
