Despite his moniker and album title (not to mention his duo PANTyRAiD), this Brooklyn producer's music has less to do with the spangled antics of party-rockers like LMFAO than the darker energies of dubsteppers like Skream and 12th Planet. Brooding G-funk meets the itchy syncopations of the London underground, with just enough wobble to keep the low end lively; even ostensible hands-in-the-air jams like "We Don't Give A Damn" are wrapped in melancholy. It's lighters-in-the-air rave re-imagined almost as a kind of burden.
