Released: Apr 2004
Label: Oh Boy Records
Dan Reeder's self-titled debut slowly gained the full attention of the trad folk world in the months after its 2004 release. An ex-pat living in Germany at the time of its creation, Reeder puts on a home recorded one-man show, not only singing his own dense, nearly whispered harmonies, but accompanying the songs with hand-made instruments. The result is a strange and intimate slice of outsider art that can be heartbreaking or whimsical, issued, appropriately, on John Prine's Oh Boy Label. Highlights include "Three Chords," "Work Song" and "Clean Elvis."
