Wherein America's funniest leftist folkie throws his tragicomic weight behind the Occupy crowd. The grouchy "In the Beginning" notes that "we still need religion to keep the poor from killing the rich"; the chorus to "New York Banker" is "Good things happen to bad people." The sound is surlier, with more distortion and fewer punch lines than usual -- like Noam Chomsky howling over a Dirty Three record. But a ramshackle sweetness pervades (see "Brenda"), and on wailing talking-blues stunner "In Between Jobs," Snider delivers the titular chorus as a threat, a boast, and, yes, a laugh line.
