Seven years since first unveiling his distinctive style of bass music, Burial hasn't altered his approach one whit. This EP for Hyperdub features all his hallmarks: ghostly vocals, ambient crackle, ominous bass lines and skipping, glancing drums. There's a newfound hint of trance in the arpeggios of "Loner" and "Ashtray Wasp," but the biggest change is his determination to dig in and go long: "Kindred" and "Ashtray Wasp" each run over 11 minutes, and "Loner" is seven and a half. But the longer form suits him well, as the music expands like a gas to fill the dimensions.
