Named after a classic Sun Ra composition (which the band covers in wonderfully skronky fashion), We Travel The Spaceways is the most satisfyingly leftfield thing NRBQ has put out in a long, long time. The live album's amalgam of bopping pub rock, space jazz and stoner shenanigans recalls the band's early '70s output. This line-up (revamped in 2011) likes its grooves ragged. Guitarist Scott Ligon's violent twang-n-roll on "Get a Grip" is a joy to hear. Another fun one is opener "The One and Only"; its proggy swing proves Phish surely spent plenty of hazy nights in college spinning NRBQ albums.
