by James Moody
Released: Aug 1959
It's hard to go wrong with a Moody session. This long out of print album from 1959 showcases the flute and sax master on rollicking hard bop ("Cookie"), uptown swing ("R.B.Q."), and blissed-out cool jazz ("With Malice Towards None"). That last title describes Moody perfectly -- as a man and a musician, he seems not to possess a bad thought or a mean bone.
