What starts out as a deceptively simple, straightforward rendering of children's rhymes gets funnier the longer you listen. A throat-clearing rendition of "Peter Piper" gives way to a beatboxing version of "Hickory Dickory Dock," and from there things take off. The "Itsy Bitsy Spider" gets multiple treatments in just two minutes, traveling from soul-jazz organ to a full brass band exercise and finally resolving into throaty jazz, while the ukulele-laced "Ten Monkeys in the Bed" gets some serious harmonizing. Offbeat and enjoyable.
