Hard Rain
Bob Dylan
Released:
Sep 1976
Label:
Columbia
One of many documents of Bob Dylan's legendary Rolling Thunder Revue -- in which a caravan of big-name musicians toured the country playing unannounced shows -- Hard Rain is neither the best nor the worst of the pack. Three or four guitars (one of them played by glam rocker Mick Ronson), pianos, mandolins, 50 people on stage and a violin make for a pretty weird sound, which may have been the whole point, and you get the feeling this spectacle was definitely something to see, at least. The completely inside-out "Maggie's Farm" is awesome, but you'll also want Live 1975.
