Black Kids

If you based your knowledge of the modern American teen on this soundtrack to the 2008 Sundance award-winning documentary, you'd assume the kids are quite fond of Canadians, the British and a decade they weren't even alive during (the '80s). The collection includes tracks from the Cure-adoring Black Kids; the UK's Ting Tings, Frou Frou and Sunny Day Sets Fire; and Canadians Patrick Watson, the Unicorns and the New Pornographers. While the mix may be indie-abroad biased, its themes hit the emotional chords of anyone battling with twitchy hormones, first kisses and feeling misunderstood.
