This may be the bottom of the Daptone barrel, but rarely do dregs sound so good. Any fan of the label's stubbornly vintage sound will be delighted: The digital-only collection features singles previously released only on 45s, and that cachet alone gives it a free pass. A lot of the songs feel like B-sides (some quite forgettable), but the few exceptions are notable. Lee Fields' "Could Have Been" grabs you by an invisible umbilical chord and pulls, and even more surprisingly, "How Long Do I Have To Wait For You" totally rules even without Sharon Jones. Hardly essential, but fairly enjoyable.
