Leave it to a label like Honest Jons to bring Afrobeat's master drummer Tony Allen together with a crew of remixers like this. Sessions from the Fela/Africa 70 veteran's Lagos No Shaking provide the backing for versions that run from Bonde Do Role's funk carioca lurch to Salah Ragab's Egyptian jazz workout. (His full-band cover is as hypnotic as the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble's.) But the disc's best moments, fusing dub, disco and techno, come from Carl Craig, Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald, who spin new galaxies around Allen's time-keeping constellations.
