To say the minimal techno scene owes it existence to Basic Channel is not overstating things. That said, some labels are more inspired by the legendary duo than others. Since its inception in 2004, Vakant (packed with an uber-talented roster) has turned Basic Channel's fusion of dubbed-out dissonance and airtight, clickety-clack rhythms into new, post-industrial territory.
Momentum, a deep-n-heavy mix put together by Mathias Kaden and Onur Ozer, shows off the German imprint's maverick edge. There's over an hour of relentless groove exploration here, and it all totally rocks.
