Before Cash Money or No Limit, there was J Prince's Rap-A-Lot Records. This new comp provides an excellent introduction to the storied label. Sure, you could quibble over some of the material left on the cutting room floor, but nearly every song here is a jewel, from recognizable tracks such as "Mind's Playin' Tricks on Me," "Noila Clap," "Smile" and "Draped Up," to the slightly more obscure Southern-fried pimp soul of Big Mike's "Playa Playa" and Z-Ro's emo thug ballad "I Hate U B*tch."
