San Francisco's Bindlestiff Studios is the only permanent venue in the country dedicated solely to showcasing Filipino American and Asian American artists. So it stands to reason that this album, a benefit for Bindlestiff featuring artists who regularly perform there, might be a pretty good introduction to Asian American indie music. Sure sounds like it when you're zipping along from the Skyflakes' baby-doll rock to Denizen Kane's laid-back hip-hop, from Monuments to Masses' thickly layered electro-pop to Eskapo's virulent Tagalog hardcore.
