Booker T. & The MGs

The second volume of the impressive Stax/Volt Complete Singles collection kicks off with what is perhaps the quintessential Stax single, Booker T. and the MG's "Green Onions." The dark, haughty organ, thick bass and stabbing blues guitar would become the soundtrack for a million dive bars. Elsewhere, we have Otis Redding's first hit single, the Johnny Jenkins-penned "These Arms of Mine," as well as Rufus Thomas' signature track "Walking the Dog" and a handful of great William Bell tracks.
